I didn't know Brenda very well, but we had a sort of odd family connection. Her husband, Mike, was the grandson of Ella Feldman, my paternal grandmother's life-long best friend. I remember Ella well--she came to all our family gatherings, except for a brief time when she lived in Florida. I recently came across one of the letters Ella wrote my parents; it was funny and chatty, but she was worried about the moving plans of one of Dad's elderly cousins. This cousin had lots of feline pats, and Ella wondered what was going to happen to them in our cousin's move. It was almost beyond words for Ella: All she could write was: "But what about the cats! The cats!"
